Eastern Uganda has recently experienced devastating flooding and mudslides caused by heavy rainfall. These natural disasters have displaced thousands, destroyed homes, schools, and infrastructure, and severely affected livelihoods. Many victims, including children, women, and the elderly, are in urgent need of shelter, food, medical care, and rehabilitation support.

Therefore, we have defined our objectives in three distinct terms:

 1. Short-term: Provide emergency relief to affected families.

 2. Medium-term: Restore basic living conditions through temporary shelters and water supply.

 3. Long-term: Support the rehabilitation of homes, schools, and livelihoods.

Some of the proposed activities that our team has come up with are emergency relief, health and sanitation, psychosocial support, and rehabilitation and reconstruction. As for the emergency relief, we aim to distribute food, water, and hygiene kits to the affected families as well as set up temporary shelters and mobile clinics.

In terms of health and sanitation, we aim to provide clean water through water trucking or the installation of temporary water systems, in addition to conducting health camps to prevent and treat waterborne diseases. As for psychosocial support, we will be glad to offer counselling services for the affected families; at the same time, we are going to rebuild homes, schools, and public infrastructure, just as much as the donations collected are able to offer.

At the end of the day, our hope is that the families will have access to food, shelter, and clean water, and that the percentage of them at risk of disease outbreaks will decrease. Additionally, they will be able to live in their rebuilt homes and restore their livelihoods.
