This project will provide vocational skills training to poor women in rural parts of Uganda with valuable sewing skills. It will also provide each woman with her own sewing machine and mentorship, allowing her to earn a living from home to support her family. The majority of the women in this program are young, single mothers who are struggling to feed their families. The women will undergo an extensive 3-year tailoring course to give them a better tomorrow.

We always encourage them to sell the machine locally at a yard sale, on eBay or Craigslist and then donate the money to us. It's much simpler, more efficient and honestly results in us being able to help the women in Uganda with the right machines for the job. We want to change lives, but we also want to be wise stewards and think carefully about every aspect of our program. The women in our program experience a huge transformation in hope and faith, lifestyle and their belief that they can be used by Allah to impact their local community for the better. What is the power of a sewing machine in Uganda?

It means that a woman in poverty has the opportunity to learn a life skill, earn a living wage and support her own needs as well as provide for her children. Our local seamstresses are so grateful for the gifts that empower them to not only earn a living wage but to make a valuable contribution to their community, changing the lives of others living in poverty. The smallest act of sadaqah like donating a sewing machine even one that seems irrelevant to you, but, it is enough to save you from the Hellfire if Allah wills it. Sometimes, we talk ourselves out of doing small acts of kindness because we think they aren't enough. However, Allah just tells us repeatedly that they are and that we should race to do good even when we can't see the value in it. The Messenger of Allah said:
